Introduction:
Welcome to this website. I have been the Christian lay chaplain at Stepney All Saints Secondary School and Sixth Form for the past year and a half. It is not only my responsibility as chaplain, but also a personal pleasure to organise school Christian worship events and the regular weekly meetings of the school’s Christian Union. My aim is to provide opportunities in the life of the school for students to feel secure and supported in their Christian faith.
The Christian Union meet every Tuesday lunch time in the large drama studio (PO1), and the students range in age from Year 7 to Year 11. As well as discussions, prayer and small group activities we aim to have fun and to enjoy our time of fellowship. I also take some of the students who attend the CU on trips after school. In the past we have been to Westfield’s in Stratford, Ten Pin Bowling and to Canary Wharf ice skating. This term I intend to take students who wish to go, Ten Pin Bowling again.
Every term we have a whole school Eucharist and I liaise with our ordained chaplain Father Chris Morgan from St. Dunstan’s in the East Church, Stepney. All students are welcome to attend either as Christians to participate in worship, or to observe as our beloved neighbours from the wider school community.
Mission Statement
The Christian Union of Stepney All Saints Secondary School and Sixth Form is an inclusive association “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Galatians 5: 14 – The Bible)
Our mission is to encourage the Christian students in the school to live out and develop their faith in Christ Jesus, and to act as ‘salt and light’ in the wider school community. We seek to empower them to be effective young disciples and ambassadors for Christ Jesus in their daily lives.
We aim to provide a safe space for our students to learn and grow in a fun environment; encouraging them to enjoy fellowship with Christians, but also with those from other faiths and those who have no religious faith.
