Letter to parents of new Year 7 – Start of term (September 2021)
July 2020
Dear parent / carer
I am writing to you with information regarding arrangements for the start of term in September for Year 7.
Year 7 – Start of autumn term
Year 7 will start at Stepney All Saints on Thursday 2nd September. They will follow their own programme for two days which is designed to help them settle in and to become familiar with their new environment. The programme is as follows:
Thursday 2nd September 9.30am – 2.15pm (Year 7 only in school). Parents are invited to attend our first session from 9.30-10.00am.
Friday 3rd September 9.30am – 1.30pm.
On Friday 3rd September, students should bring their PE kit into school. If you do not have the PE kit by this date, students must wear blue PE clothing. The students will be able to change into their kit in the changing rooms before the lesson.
From Monday 6th September, our normal school timetable will begin. Students must be in school by 8.40am and lessons end at 3.00pm.
Entry and exit to the school is via the Bromley Street gate for students in Year 7. If you are collecting your child at the end of school, please wait on the green opposite the Bromley Street entrance. This is to ensure a safe departure of students. Staff will be on duty to assist students in crossing the road safely.
Lunch will be provided free of charge to Year 7 students until Monday 12th September. From this date, unless your child receives free school meals, students will be required to pay. The guide to Parent Pay can be found on the school website – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/for-parents/useful-school-links/parent-pay/
Please note that as the transition day was cancelled this year, we have not been able to see students in a school setting. Therefore, the form groups will be reviewed and finalised after the students’ first full week in school.
London Borough of Tower Hamlets guidance on school attendance: September 2021
Please note that from Wednesday 1 September 2021 all children are expected to be back in school fulltime.
- Families who have travelled abroad, or are planning to travel during the summer period, need to ensure that children are ready to return to school for the beginning of the autumn term.
- This includes any children who have travelled to red list countries, so families do need to consider whether they can manage any financial obligation caused by the requirement to hotel quarantine, as financial hardship can no longer be accepted as a reason not to be at school. Any quarantine/isolation that needs to be done will need to be completed by the beginning of the autumn term. Children on leave in term time will no longer be offered remote learning, absence will be unauthorised and parents will be liable to Penalty Notice fines.
- If children are out of school for longer than twenty days, schools will inform parents that if the child is not back in school by the twenty-first day the child may be removed from roll and lose their school place.
Uniform
The school uniform is available for purchase via Parent Pay. An email was sent to you with details, including your individual username, password and instructions about how to create Parent Pay account for your child for Stepney All Saints.
Parents/carers must measure their child using the size guide on the school website and place an order via Parent Pay, stating the size required in the notes.
There have been delays in the production of the uniform due to major global shipping issues as a result of the pandemic. Frustratingly, suppliers have been unable to provide us with an accurate date for delivery. As soon as the uniform items become available, we will communicate this to you immediately.
In the hope that our shipment arrives on time, you will receive a message to let you know that the uniform is ready to be collected from the school on the following dates between 9.30am-2.30pm:
- Monday 16th August – Thursday 19th August
- Monday 23rd August – Thursday 26th August
Students should try their uniform on at home for sizing. Should the sizing be incorrect for your child, we will offer an exchange, provided the items are returned in a good condition with all labels attached.
If the items ordered do not arrive before the start of term, in the interim students should come to school in the correct school uniform i.e. white shirt, grey trouser/skirt, year group tie but minus the blazer. Year 7 will receive their first tie, free of charge, from the school on their first day.
For the full uniform list and further information, please visit our school website – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/for-parents/school-rules-and-information/uniformequipment-list/
Thank you in advance for your support and we look forward to finally meeting you all in September. In the meantime, please visit the following link for all key information – https://sites.google.com/stepneyallsaintsschool.com/year6/welcome
