Dear parent/guardian,

We are writing to inform you of our whole school Teaching and Learning strategy for all students this academic year. We would first like to say thank you for supporting the students in their return to school at the start of this term. As a school, we have devised a two-part Teaching and Learning initiative, to support students in revisiting and reinforcing any knowledge taught during lockdown and then building on this knowledge in the future.

For the first four weeks of term, each department has created a bespoke curriculum that revises and reinforces the content taught during our time of remote learning. At the end of these four weeks, we will do a baseline assessment in each subject to give an indication of each student’s progress. These tests are important for your son/daughter and may inform setting this year. If you have any questions, please do contact your son/daughter’s Head of Year in the first instance.

We will then be launching our new Teaching and Learning initiative: AAE (Application, Analysis and Evaluation) on the 28th September. Teachers will be setting virtual pre learning activities on Google Classroom that focus on content (e.g. a through Loom video and/or a google quiz). Lessons will then be dedicated to applying, analysing and evaluating the knowledge and skills learnt.

If you have any initial questions about either strategy, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you in advance for your continued commitment to your child’s learning.

Best wishes

Mrs Dacre Singh (Assistant Headteacher) and Mr O’Brien (Deputy Headteacher)
