Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for your support in securing such a positive start back to school after the Easter break and we are grateful for your help in ensuring that students have returned with correct uniform. The lighter mornings and better weather have heralded the start of the summer term, and we will of course continue in our mission to provide the best education possible in the safest way possible in the weeks ahead.
Eid Al-Fitr
As the month of Ramadan draws to an end, the date for our Eid closure will be Tuesday 3rd May following the Bank Holiday on Monday 2nd May. Lessons will resume as normal on Wednesday 4th May.
Year 11 and Year 13 Examinations Season
With public examinations taking place for the first time since 2019, we are looking forward to a successful summer series, which begins in earnest in early May. External qualifications mean that for most Year 11 and Year 13 students, term finishes earlier than usual, on completion of their final exams and after the traditional leavers’ events. However, please note that the exam boards have designated Wednesday 29th June 2022 as the final exams contingency date. This means that in the event of any disruption, exams can be scheduled to this date, or in advance of it. All students in Years 11 and 13 should be aware that they should not make plans for any date prior to the 30th June 2022.
Year 9 Vaccinations
The Vaccination UK Team will be visiting the school the 17th and 24th June 2022 to administer DTP vaccinations to all students in year 9. The team will be required to see all students, except for those who have refused the vaccination. For any student they do not get a response from, they will attempt to for a verbal consent with parents, and if that is not successful, they will do a Gillick competency with the student. Please complete the consent form by Friday 9th June. Useful Careers Skills
Careersdays.co.uk have launched a programme of students aged 14-18, designed to help them choose a future career and to provide them with some work experience to use in their application. Year 7 Parents’ Evening
A reminder that Year 7 Parents’ Evening will be taking place online on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th May 2022. An email was sent to parents from Ms Jech with information about the online parents’ evening and how to book appoints. We aim to have the dates for the academic year 2022-23 published on the website in the coming weeks to allow for parents to pre-plan any holidays during the school holidays.
