May 2022

Dear parents and carers,

We have had an excellent week in school following the bank holiday weekend with lots of industry in lessons, the Year 7 parents’ evening and, for some of our Year 11 and 13 students, a week where formal examinations have already started.

Extra-Curricular Activities and School Trips

The summer term is traditionally a busy time for such activities and 2022 marks a resumption of events which can make an education so inspiring and memorable. In the next few weeks alone, we will be running a Year 9 visit to Spain, a theatre visit and a range of sports competitions. All of this in addition to our regular clubs and activities.

I would like to reiterate that participation in enrichment activities is a key aspect of the development of our students and that from September all students in Key Stage 3 will be expected to take part in at least one enrichment activity each week. Further details will be shared in the coming months along with the full programme of activities on offer.

The Swimming Pool

We are delighted that our new swimming pool will be in use for swimming sessions very soon, not only by our own students, but also by visiting primary schools. Full details of swimming lesson through the PE curriculum are being shared with students in the coming week. The 20-metre pool will ensure that all students at Stepney All Saints are able to learn to swim, a key life skill, and it will further enhance our enrichment programme offer.

The boys’ swimming club will be on Monday from 3-4pm and the girls’ swimming club on Wednesday from 3-4pm.

Erasmus Programme

This week we welcomed students to Stepney All Saints from Italy, Greece and Spain. This is part of the Erasmus programme which is of one of our international projects engaging in work on joint projects with partner schools in other countries. Our visitors visited the local area as well as central London, accompanied by Year 9 students as their guides.

Year 11 Examinations

Year 11 parents will have received communication regarding the summer examinations taking place from 16th May – 27th June, with guidance about expectations, and active study leave that will commence from Monday 6th June. A copy of this letter can be found on the school website – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/y11-exams-letter-06-05-22/
