Year 7 introduction and team building events

Dear Parents,

As we progress into our first term, I wanted to take this opportunity to write to you to introduce myself as Head of Year 7 and communicate some important information regarding school life and upcoming events. It has been great to welcome our new Year 7 students to Stepney All Saints and staff have been impressed with how quickly they have settled in and adapted to the school community.

Team Building Days

Year 7 students will participate in a Team Building Day on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September. This is a great opportunity for them to build on new friendships and develop their collaborative teamwork skills. Below you can see details of when your child will take part. On this day students should wear their PE kit to school and break time snacks and lunch will be provided.

Attendance and punctuality

Good attendance is firmly linked with academic success and it is expected that pupils maintain a high level of attendance. This is particularly important for Year 7 students as they begin their Key Stage 3 education. The school day starts at 8.50am and as such, students are expected to be in the West playground lining up with their form at this time.

School planner

Students have been given their own student planner at the start of the academic year. The planner provides students with a space to write homework or independent study, to note down the codes for their Google Classrooms and provides useful reference pages. Should you wish to communicate with your child’s form tutor or teachers, please use the planner in the first instance. This is an easy way for parents and staff to communicate with one another. For this reason, we ask that you to check and sign your child’s planner weekly

Google Classroom

It is important that all students are able to log into their Google Classrooms to be able to access key information, pre-learning tasks and homework. Students can obtain their log in details from their form tutor and should ensure that they join all the relevant classrooms for their subjects. Please check at home that that your child is able to use this facility.

Uniform

A reminder that students are expected to maintain high standards of uniform, including the correct PE kit, school shoes and not wearing any jewellery. Full details of the school uniform can be found on the school website.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support at this important time of your child’s school career, please continue to check our website and social media feeds @StepneyAS for school updates.

Yours faithfully,

Samantha White

Head of Year 7
