Musical learning in Yr7 is based around the ‘building blocks’ of music. Students learn to recognise the elements of music through listening, and apply these through performing and composing.

The Yr8 music curriculum investigates how the elements of music have been used over different periods of time and parts of the world. Students develop this knowledge and understanding through performing, composing and listening.

Year 9

Musical learning in Yr9 enables students to build on their prior learning in Yrs7&8 and apply their knowledge and understanding to styles and genres of the 20th and 21st centuries. Skills are developed through performing, composing and listening.
