Swimming Lessons

Dear Parent/Carer,
I am very pleased to share that after the Easter holidays the new school swimming pool will be up and running.
PE Curriculum
This means that we will now be able to offer swimming as part of the PE curriculum. Swimming lessons will be compulsory for students in years 7, 8 and 9, and is available as an option for students in years 10 and 11 studying core PE.
All students who are starting swimming in their PE modules straight after the Easter holidays have been informed and further information shared on PE Google Classrooms.
All PE lessons and changing rooms are single-sex. There will also be an extra-curricular swimming club for boys every Monday and for girls every Wednesday after School from 3-4pm.
We will also have an after-school swim school for the local community, details of which will be shared once confirmed.
Ramadan
I am aware that the return to school after Easter will be Ramadan. PE lessons will continue as usual, and we will monitor students who are fasting to ensure that they are not over-exerting and are able to manage their fast. Use of the swimming pool does not constitute to a fast breaking, unless the swallowing or drinking of water is done as a deliberate act. The swimming pool water is chlorinated and therefore should not be ingested.
PE Uniform
A reminder that after Easter, students can continue to wear the school PE kit to school on the days that they have PE, providing that it is the school branded PE uniform, with the school blazer on top.
On the days that students have swimming lessons, they will need to bring the swimming kit in to school and use the changing rooms.

As mentioned in the Headteacher’s letter earlier this year, we have been advised that there will be a 6% increase in the cost of uniform items from suppliers, although this has been implemented to the school from February. We will be reflecting this increase on ParentPay for current students from July.
