Dear Parent/Carers,

I am writing to provide you with some important information regarding the different activities taking place on the last week of term.

Monday 12th July 2021 – Drop-Down Day
Year 12s will not be participating in Sports Day and instead will remain on site from 9am – 12:20pm working with their form tutors on their UCAS applications. A smaller group of students will be working with the following departments: Health and Social Care, Business, IT, Media Studies and EPQ. All students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. Students on FSM are welcome to collect a packed lunch but they must let their Form Tutor know in advance (by Thursday 8th July) in order for these to be prepared. Students should spend the remainder of the day studying at home.

Tuesday 13th July 2021 – Activities Day
A number of Year 12s will be going to Southend Adventure Island. They will need to be in their form rooms by 8:30am and we will be travelling by coach. The remaining students have opted to take part in one of the three Cultural Capital activities. The details of the ‘Walking Tour of London’ and ‘Museums and Galleries’ tour have been attached with this letter and shared with students via the Year 12 Google Classroom. Students who have opted to stay at home will have access to a series of online lectures and podcasts.

Wednesday 14th July 2021
Normal day. Students will finish at 1:20pm as usual. Students should spend Period 5 (enrichment slot) to visit the ‘UK University and Apprenticeship’ fair. This is a free, virtual event and students and parents can register here: UK University Search July 2021 (vfairs.com) All details have been shared with students via the Year 12 Google Classroom.

Thursday 15th July 2021
Normal day. Students will be visiting a Fun Fair Period 5 on the school site and will be dismissed from the West Playground at 3pm.

Friday 16th July 2021 – End of Term (Half-Day)
Normal lessons Periods 1 and 2. Students will be dismissed by the 6th Form team at 11:15am.
Summer Intervention Programme

All students in Year 12 will be provided summer holiday work. This needs to be completed over the holiday period and will be checked upon their return in September. We ask you to support your son/daughter in ensuring the work is completed to a high standard. A Level students who have severely under-performed in the Year 12 end-of-year examinations will be mentored by a member of the 6th Form team as well as being closely monitored by HoDs. A short meeting will be held with these students on Wednesday 14th July at 1:20pm. All Year 12 students will be re-assessed when they return in Year 13. The assessment period will begin on Monday 27th September 2021 and end on Friday 8th October 2021.

Return to Year 13
Students will return to the 6th Form on Friday 3rd September 2021 for a two hour induction (10am – 12pm) which will include an assembly and form time. Lessons will resume as normal from Monday 6th September 2021.

Please encourage your son/daughter to check the Year 12 Google Classroom regularly for updates and important information.

Thank you as always for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,
Rimina Yasmin
Head of Year 12
