Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing in regard to the Stepney All Saints Summer Project, which will run for the first time this year.

The project has been designed to ensure that pupils continue to make progress during the summer holiday and have the opportunity to engage in learning projects beyond the classroom that will address gaps in knowledge and prepare them for next year.
Every student in years 7-9 will choose a topic in English, Maths and Science, completing three separate projects in total.

Students will be given a choice from an extensive list allowing them to pursue their own interests within each of the core subjects. Project options include Scientific experiments in Biology, Chemistry and Physics; practical and creative problem solving in Maths and creative or research based projects in English.

Students will choose their topics before the end of term and be supported by their form tutors and subject teachers in doing so. They will then embark on researching and completing their projects independently over the holiday, with the final submission date set for August 25th.

While students will be supported in choosing and planning their projects at school and be issued with a student guidebook to help them over the summer, we would be most grateful if parents, carers and other family members could offer guidance to pupils by regularly checking and discussing their work with them.

In September, prizes in the form of certificates and reward trips will be given to students in recognition of effort and quality of work, so again, please encourage your child.

Thank you for your continued help and support.

Yours sincerely,
Kevin O’Connor
